Realize Your Skin’s Potential with Dysport

Most people develop frown lines as they age and for some people frown lines are more prominent and detract from the overall appearance of their face. Frown lines can also be a nuisance causing them to look and feel older than they are. Dysport can help people who want to renew their face by improving the appearance of their frown lines.*

The Science of Frown Lines

dysport-torontoThe technical name for the wrinkles that are commonly referred to as “frown lines” are is Glabellar lines. This term refers to wrinkles that appear between a person’s eyebrows. Although these vertical wrinkles are commonly caused by aging or worsen with age, they are actually not only related to the aging process. These lines are created by the movement of the face when changing facial expressions – something every person does many times in the course of a day. Some people develop these lines at a younger age because they may frown or squint or make other facial expressions often causing the space between the eyebrows to wrinkle. When facial expressions are made over time the collagen in the area between the eyebrows begins to break down, which is what causes the wrinkles to appear.*

There are also several other factors besides facial expressions that may cause frown lines to appear sooner or worsen. These factors include:

Smoking

Smoking increases likelihood of developing frown lines at an early age and can worsen existing frown lines because smoking reduces the amount of natural collagen your body is able to produce.*

Prolonged Sun Exposure

While smoking prevents your body from making enough new collagen, too much UV light can damage the collagen that is already present in your skin.*

Aging

As you age the skin naturally loosens and the collagen fibres wear down causing the appearance of more wrinkles like frown lines. Treatments work primarily by immobilizing the area between the eyebrows so less movement occurs and the collagen is not put under as much stress by constant movement.*

Introducing Dysport

Dysport is among treatments for frown lines and is used to temporarily reduce the appearance of frown lines. This Anti Aging treatment works well in moderate to severe frown lines in adults who are under 65 years of age.*

How does it work?

Dysport works with only one simple treatment by blocking the signal that passes between the nerves and muscles in the frown line area. This reduces mobility in the area and causes the muscles that cause frown lines to be temporarily unable to contract. This treatment is typically done in a session of 10 to 20 minutes. You can get Dysport repeatedly, but it is recommended to not receive injections more frequently than every 90 days.*

FAQs

How quickly will I see results?

The average time in which patients see results is about 3 days and some are able to see a difference only 24 hours after the injection of Dysport.*

How can Dysport change my appearance?

After one administration of Dysport your frown lines will be smoothed. The treatment blocks communication between the nerves and muscles in the area between your eyebrows, where frown lines form. This is how Dysport relaxes the muscles that cause all of those annoying lines and wrinkles.*

Will Dysport change the way I look?

Dysport is a temporary treatment and is injected into the area where frown lines exist to improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Dysport does not affect the area outside of the treated area and will not change the look of the rest of your face. Any untreated muscles of the face will function as normal and you can still make facial expressions, such as smiling, freely.*
