Help Your Skin Heal Itself Naturally with the Help of Micro Needling
Refine, fill out and smooth the face with Micro Needling also commonly referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy. This innovative and minimally invasive anti aging treatment was designed to enhance the skin’s ability to produce collagen, an integral protein in the skin that keeps skin luminous, full and wrinkle-free.
In addition to increasing the body’s natural ability to produce collagen, Micro Needling has also been proven effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and Acne scarring, as well as the overall texture, tone and complexion of the skin.
How it Works
Despite making headlines recently, Micro Needling is the one of the oldest cosmeceutical procedures on earth dating back to the earliest Indian, Chinese and Egyptian societies. Using extremely thin needles the skin of the treatment area is superficially pierced by the tiny needles, dozens of times creating a micro-injury. Unlike other injuries which can lead to scarring, these micro-injuries encourage the skin to produce more of its own natural collagen and elastin. By triggering the natural repair process skin is thicker (less susceptible to wrinkles and scarring), the skin also appears softer, fuller and more contoured.
At New You Spa our Micro Needling procedure is performed with The MicroPen™, a state-of-the-art dermaroller that can be paired with a topical anti-scarring or anti-aging treatments to further reduce the appearance of scars and wrinkles. This treatment is incredibly effective because it facilitates collagen production deep within the skin through micro-channels.
The Benefits of Micro Needling:

What Areas of My Body Can be Treated with Micro Needling?
Anywhere. Because Micro Needling creates a superficial wound to signal the body’s healing process it is completely safe and can be performed anywhere you have skin, including: Face, arms, legs, chest, stomach, thighs and back.*
How is Micro Needling Done?
At New You each Micro Needling session is performed by our certified technicians, who prepare a sterile needle tip, consisting of 12 micro needles. After a thin layer of topical gel is applied to the treatment zone, the technician then moves the Micro Pen over the area in one smooth, single motion, in one direction, creating the tiny punctures that will trigger new collagen growth. This is repeated until the entire area has been treated.
What Does Micro Needling Feel Like?
For the majority of patients Micro Needling feels similar to sandpaper being rubbed across the skin. However, some areas of the body are more sensitive than others, it really depends on each individual patient and their comfort level. Patients have reported that the treatment tends to be more comfortable the faster the tool is moved across the surface of the skin.*
What Time Will I Need to Set Aside for Micro-Needling?
Because Micro Needling is minimally invasive there is no need for downtime or a recovery period. The treatment itself can be performed quickly depending on the size and location of the treatment area. Typically, the procedure takes as little as 15 to 20 minutes.*
When Will I Be Able to See a Difference?
Immediately after the treatment, you may notice a glow to your skin. Over the course of several weeks changes will continue to develop in the skin as collagen continues to be produced. Your skin can continue to improve up to 6 months after initial treatment.*
How Should I Care for My Skin Following the Treatment?
After having a Micro Needling treatment patients should avoid using AHA’s (glycolic Acid), retinol, acidic or “active” ingredients which can be too strong for the skin as it works to naturally heal itself. Direct sun exposure should also be avoided during the first 3 days after treatment, zinc-based sunblock can be used to help reduce the sun’s effects.
How Many Times Should I Receive the Micro-Needling Treatment?
The number of treatments recommended varies from patient to patient, and is dependant on the outcomes they wish to receive, as well as the depth and texture of wrinkles and skin. Some patients only need an annual treatment, while others book a treatment more frequently. In general, 2 to 3 treatments spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart is the recommended treatment schedule. If you have deep wrinkles or other advanced skin blemishes that you wish to improve, 6 to 8 sessions of Micro Needling at 6 week intervals is best.*
