Sculptra volume-restoring injectable

Sculptra is a volume-restoring injectable that achieves more youthful, supple-looking skin. As well as plumping tissue and reducing fine lines and wrinkles in the face, this filler can be used in other parts of the body as an alternative to surgery. For example, a Non-Surgical Butt Lift with Sculptra is a safer, less-invasive alternative to the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL), providing subtler, more natural-looking results with much shorter recovery periods.

Many skin care products promise to boost volume and smooth skin texture, but these are usually temporary, and barely noticeable in the long-term. Containing a key skin rejuvenation ingredient, poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), Sculptra stimulates the body to increase collagen production in the deeper layers of the skin. This provides beautiful, long-lasting results with minimal effort, and minimal downtime.

Before and After Photos

About Sculptra

The aging process increases wrinkles and fine lines. It can also cause a decrease in volume in some areas, and an increase in others, raising the likelihood of hollowing and skin sagging where we do not want it. This results in less well-defined contours, and an ailing and tired facial appearance.

Collagen in Skin

Collagen is a valuable protein present in the body. It aids the healing process when we’re injured, and it maintains the shape and texture of the skin. As our bodies age, collagen production decreases, and our skin suffers the effects. Sunken temples, prominent nasolabial folds, and increased under-eye hollowing are just three examples of how collagen depletion can affect our appearance.

What Does PLLA Do?

PLLA is a synthetic polymer. Sculptra uses tiny microparticles of this important ingredient to not only replace collagen but also to increase collagen production, helping to fill in the gaps of lost skin volume. [1] When directly injected into the chosen treatment area, Sculptra firms up skin, smooths wrinkles, and restores sunken features throughout the treatment area. This simple treatment has helped many of our patients to restore their natural beauty and confidence

Where Can Sculptra Be Used?

  • Frown Lines
  • Smile Lines
  • Marionette Lines

Benefits

Sculptra provides a quick and easy solution to improve the condition and appearance of aging skin. Its benefits include the following.

  • Improved skin texture and fullness
  • Softer looking skin
  • Restored youthful appearance
  • Minimal downtime
  • Increased confidence
  • Long-lasting results

Why Choose Sculptra?

PLLA is an immunologically inert, biocompatible substance. These terms mean that it is highly unlikely to cause an unexpected negative reaction in the body. And as well as being body-safe, the results you achieve with PLLA-based Sculptra may last much longer than other treatments

Though they provide semi-permanent results, other dermal fillers such as Dysport and Amalian simply do not last as long. And in fact, Sculptra may last even longer than Radiesse, which is usually around 15 months. Depending on the area of treatment and a patient’s metabolism, some Sculptra results have been known to last up to two years!

Candidates

Sculptra is for patients looking for a longer-term solution to wrinkles and lines, those who have suffered age-related hollowing and volume loss in the face and body, and those who wish to improve the overall appearance of aging skin in specific areas. Patients preparing for Sculptra.

  • Should not smoke
  • Do not have any active skin conditions (e.g. rash)
  • Have realistic goals and expectations
  • Should be committed to good skincare

Although Sculptra is well-tolerated by most patients, there are some things that will prevent treatment with PLLA-based fillers. These include the following.

  • Allergy to any of the ingredients
  • Allergy to lidocaine
  • History of severe allergic reactions
  • Serious medical conditions
  • Susceptible to keloid or hypertrophic (raised) scarring
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding

Preparation

Sculptra procedures are straightforward and require very little preparation. And, our professional medspa staff will ensure you know exactly what to expect on the day.

  • Avoid taking certain anti-inflammatory medications and supplements.
  • Avoid using products that could aggravate the skin.
  • Refrain from drinking and smoking 24 hours prior.
  • Do not apply makeup, creams, or lotions on the day of treatment.

Sculptra Procedure

Patients should arrive at their Sculptra session with a clean face. Vials are carefully prepared, and each has a thin needle for treatment. Although there is very little discomfort, you may experience a brief prick at the injection site(s). [2] Once the injection stage is complete, Treatment sites may be gently massaged so the filler can be evenly distributed.Though results appear gradually over time, Sculptra goes right to work as it stimulates new collagen production to enhance your skin appearance. Depending on your exact treatment plan, additional fillers may be added for optimal results. The most striking effects are usually a result of 2-4 sessions spaced 3-6 weeks apart.

Recovery

The great thing about a Sculptra procedure is that it requires minimal downtime, if any at all! With care, patients can return to their daily activities or go back to work immediately after their session. You may experience some redness, swelling, and bruising in the treated area, but you can expect to see this dissipate in around one week. Ice packs will help to minimize swelling.

Additionally, if you undergo Sculptra treatment for the face, we will ask you to follow these guidelines until otherwise directed.

  • Refrain from wearing makeup and creams
  • Gently massage the area every day
  • Avoid prolonged periods of direct sunlight
  • Avoid strenuous activities (e.g. running)
  • Do not undergo laser or light treatments (e.g. IPL PhotoFacial)

Due to its location, a Sculptra Butt Lift procedure may require additional precautions to protect your results. We will inform you of these before treatment at your personal consultation.

Results

Patients will begin to notice skin improvements quickly after their first session but final results will appear gradually, within around 6 weeks. The PLLA molecules need time to gradually stimulate collagen synthesis and rebuild the skin’s support structure.

Some patients will require several sessions to achieve optimal effects. Like many other injectable treatments, evidence shows Sculptra PLLA fillers are incredibly successful. The volumising results of Sculptra treatment can last up to 2 years with proper maintenance. [3] And, clinical studies show high patient satisfaction levels after receiving injectable fillers, as they reap the rewards of an easy procedure and great aesthetic outcomes. [4]

FAQ

Is Sculptra permanent?

Sculptra treatment will produce great-looking results that can last up to two years. This is substantially longer than some other dermal fillers. To maximize results, multiple treatment sessions may be required.

How can I keep my Sculptra results?

Having a great skincare routine that includes the daily use of sunscreen will aid your results to look their best and last longer. Also, maintaining an active lifestyle with a healthy diet will preserve skin’s elasticity, helping it to stay strong.

Is Sculptra like Restylane?

Although they achieve similar results, unlike hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane, and Amalian, Sculptra uses a body-compatible polymer known as Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). This replaces lost collagen molecules and encourages new collagen to form for dramatic, long-lasting volume.
